about

This song was originally written as an upbeat banjo tune. The version on this album came out of a fight with my husband who really didn't like the upbeat repetitive song - "What?? You want something like this instead?!" (Maura angrily stabs chords into her keyboard) "Yes, that's exactly what I want." And a song was born.

lyrics

I don’t wanna go in there
I don’t wanna feel that air
I don’t wanna step inside
I don’t wanna take that ride
I don’t want to hear your voice
I don’t wanna make that choice
I don’t wanna be
I don’t wanna see

I don’t wanna take advice
I don’t wanna make it nice
I don’t wanna waste my time
I don’t wanna hear you whine
I don’t wanna feel this way
I don’t wanna live this day

I don’t wanna go
No I don’t wanna know
No, no, no
Well you can say what you want to say
I am not going oh no not this day
No way

You can’t make me
I don’t wanna
You can’t make me
I’m not gonna

I don’t wanna see your face
I don’t wanna win that race
I don’t wanna plug it in
I don’t wanna wear this skin
I don’t wanna scratch that itch
I don’t wanna be your bitch
I don’t wanna lie
I don’t wanna try

Ms. Maura Los Angeles, California

“At first you think, ‘Oh, she's a little like Annie Lennox,’ then you think, ‘No, she's sort of a torch singer,’ then you think, ‘Whoa! That's a BIG voice -- like Etta James Big,’ and then you just stop thinking and sit back and say, ‘It's just GOOD.’”
